It's probably your IWE actuator. This is the part that connects the wheel hub to the CV shaft when you use 4wd. One way to test is unplug the IWE soleonid (passenger side firewall behind battery) and see if the noise goes away. I assume you still have warranty being a 2016. Try a road test pulling a hill, the longer the better. If you hear the noise select 4x4 high right away. If noise stops it "may be" the splines on the hubs slightly touching. Ford uses Vacuum to hold the locking hubs off, If vacuum is lost, like when pulling a hill, they try to slightly engage, thus the noise.
