I believe it needs the other 2 wires hooked up for the body computer to know if the lid's open or closed, or if it's in 'lock' or 'unlock' position. I tried ohming things out, and checking voltage when I pushed the trunk release button, and lock/unluck, etc.The trunk button still does not work. I looked through the owner's manual and found on page 5-105 a schematic for the Rear Compartment Fuse Block. This appears to have the relay for the Trunk Release (item 22 for those playing along at home). The problem is, the manual states this block is located INSIDE the trunk.
